The OTTAKRINGER Beer Horse by MushroomBrain The OTTAKRINGER Beer Horse by MushroomBrain
acrylics on canvas 50 x 50 cm

The story: the story of the OTTAKRINGER horses area an intrigueing story, it all started when the Emperor of Austria invented the best beer in the world anno 1837...

At the start the Emperor had to go around and taste the beer on all his destilleries to make sure that his beer kept the right standard to be released to his minions...

One day when the emperor was on a state visist to the king of Swaziland he got a tip from the king that the had really long necked horses in his land with an extremly keen taste because of their long necks and tongues...

The Kind of Swaziland was a wise man and understood his collegue´s problems and stress in testing all the OTTAKRINGER beer every day to make sure it kept the right standard, so he gave the Emperor two of theese OTTAKRINGER horses so they could do his job in testing all the OTTAKRINGERS...

The OTTAKRINGER horses was shipped to Austria and was used in the OTTAKRINGER industrie, they really liked it but often had problems standing up on their long spindely legs after a full day of testing...

At the beginning of the First World War (then only called the Great War becuase no one had read about the second one)...

Anyway at the start of the first world war the had grown in numbers and someone said that their numbers in the stable of the OTTAKRINGER brewery was between 19-23 individuals...

The sad part of the story is that they all died during an allied bombing raid becuase the frensh thought they were some kind of secret weapon...

...it all happened in 1918 the same day as the emperor drew his last breath, all the OTTAKRINGER horses died at the same time as the Habsburg empire started to disentigrate...

...a very sad story, but today the OTTAKRINGER horses are legendary here in Vienna...

I like the composition and the colors. The combination of yellow and blue makes the picture look contrast. The horse looks funny and sad at the same time (maybe because of the story).
Are you satisfied now?:)

ha ha ha thanx...

yeah the brewery survived the allieds bombing by a miracle, they tried to lower the austrians fighting moral by bombing out all of the great breweries, and then of cause the OTTAKRINGER brewery was their main target but by (propably) divine intervention it survived...

yeah I am actually writing a book but my wifes brither erased all my stuff in that computer so I have to re-write it again, just as well because I wrote it in swedish and I guess it is better to write it in english, because there are only about 9-10 milions of swedish speakers in the world and a bit more who speak english...

oooh yeah it is a really sad story but as you say we here in Vienna will never forget them...

They were the heroes that helped set the standard on the OTTAKRINGER and made it the best beer in the world...

when I think of them it is always with a hint of sadness, but joy too for the good times they had when they were testing all that OTTAKRINGER...

Thanx!

awww poor horses but I'm sure they were happy when they were alive testing OTTAKRINGER.

Actually my great-grandfather had a horse who pulled the cart and everyday they would stop at the bar. While my great-grandfather had a drink, a bucket full of beer was brought out for the horse and he drank it all! On days that they were not able to stop at the bar, the horse still halted and refused to move until he got his bucket of beer.
